How To Know Christ
Knowing Jesus Personally
In the same way that the cosmos runs by natural laws, such as gravity or thermodynamics, spiritual laws are in force for the inner, unseen part of the universe: the hearts of people. God has made it known to us in the Bible that there are four of these that are very basic.
1. God loves you incredibly, and wants you to be His Own son or daughter. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him might not perish, but have eternal life."
2. All have wronged God and each other. The Bible calls this “sin”, and because it is against the infinite God, it is a capital offence; it deserves death. Romans 3:23 and 6:23 say, “All have sinned and fallen short of God…” and that “…the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
3. To make a way for me to get heaven, God provided payment. Jesus Christ died in my place, satisfying the legal penalty for sin. The Bible says that because of this, I am able to be forgiven and go to heaven. Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates His Own love for us in this, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
4. We must each, however, as individuals, accept God’s offer by trusting in what Jesus did for us and committing our lives to Him. Romans 10:9 says, “If you say with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” And I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and purify us from all wrong.”
If you would like to accept Christ today as Your personal Lord and Savior, say this simple prayer from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I’ve done many wrong things. I’ve sinned. But You promised to forgive me if I came to You. I am doing that now. I believe you died on the cross to pay my penalty, and that You rose from the dead on the 3rd day. Please forgive all my wrongs, and make me Your son [daughter] right now. Change my life, and make me what You want me to be. Thank You that I can trust You. Amen.”
If you prayed this prayer, be sure to let a Christian know so he/she can be a help to you. If you need any further assistance or a Bible, please contact the church office.
